Not everybody is recommended to own Pitbulls, because this breed requires a firm hand and consistent training. If the owner is unable to provide early socialization for the puppy and the dog is kept outdoors on a chain, it will surely become aggressive. Much depends on the breeder, because the atmosphere in the kennel, soundness of the parents and proper care in puppyhood may influence the dog's temperament, health and cause some behavioral problems.

There are several ways to get a purebred Pitbull puppy: pet shops, puppy mills, rescues and breeders. In puppy mills, dogs are produced massively and nobody cares about their health and soundness. The main aim of puppy mills is getting maximum profit. Pet shops usually buy the animals from puppy mills, dealers or irreputable breeders, who don't care for the further progress of their dogs.

True breeders will never sell their puppies to wholesales and to people they don't know personally. To buy a purebred Pitbull, you should visit the kennel and talk to the breeder. It is good if you have a chance to see the whole litter and its parents. Reputable breeders provide all buyers with all necessary papers without charging extra for it.

If buying a Pitbull puppy, you should get a pedigree with at least three generations of purebred dogs, a health certificate with information about vaccinations and genetic disorders present in the dog, and registration papers. Registration without other documents means only that the parents of the dog were purebred. If the breeder sees that you are not the person to own Pitbull puppies, you will be refused to buy one.

American Pit Bull Terriers - American Pit Bull Terriers are striking dogs that possess great strength, power and willingness to work and please the owner. They have a brick-like head, a muscled neck, and a well-sprung chest. These dogs look very impressive for their size. The American Pit Bull Terrier is a sturdy, and agile dog. The ears may be cropped in this breed. The round eyes can be of any color. The teeth should meet in a scissors bite. The coat is short and shiny. All coat colors are admissible.

American Pit Bull Terriers are extremely courageous and determined guard dogs. They are protective of their owners and of the owners' property. Good-natured, highly intelligent and obedient, American Pit Bulls do well in families with children. They can be aggressive toward other dogs. However, if properly trained, American Pit Bull Terriers obey the owner and know perfectly well when it is time to protect and when there is no real danger. Some breeders promote the fighting instinct of the American Pit Bull Terrier, which gives the breed somewhat of a bad reputation. Responsible owners claim, there is no dog that can be more obedient, amusing and friendly than properly socialized and well-trained American Pit Bull Terriers.

Pit Bulls Breeders - Pit Bulls were created to fight. Bull baiting was the major purpose they were actually bred for well into the early 19th century in England. The breed was once called the Bulldog and Terrier Dog. This breed developed in England and later acquired the name the Staffordshire Bull Terrier. The American Pit Bull and the American Staffordshire evolved from this breed. These three strains are closely related but still different breeds of the same family.

Bull baiting was a spectacular and very cruel sport. A bull meant for slaughter was brought to the market to be attacked by Pit Bulls. The brutal practice of bull baiting was abolished in 1835 as a result of a public protest. However, dog fighting replaced the bull baiting for those interested in such public entertainment. The dog fighting was regarded inferior to the bull baiting, as the bull baiting was primarily entertainment for royalty, while dog fighting was not so spectacular and privileged.

Pit Bulls Information - Pit Bulls have always aroused arguments due to some divergence of names referring to the breed and due to their notoriety of dangerous dogs. The early 19th century is the time when the two dog breeds, the Bulldog and the Terrier, were crossed to get their best qualities in a new breed. This resulted in the Staffordshire Terrier (also known as the Bull-and-Terrier Dog, the Pit Dog).

In England, the breed got the name the Staffordshire Bull Terrier. This is the breed that started the American Pit Bull Terrier and the American Staffordshire. Thus, the Pit Bull is a general term for several Pit Bull strains: the American Pit Bull Terrier, the American Staffordshire, and the Staffordshire Bull Terrier. Generally speaking, all these strains have much in common. They are of common ancestry. However, each of them was bred to emphasize different features.

Pit Bulls Pictures - Pit Bulls are wonderful working dogs with a notorious history of rather cruel animals and fighting dogs. The UKC standard for the American Pit Bull Terrier is rather vague. The dog is square with a blocky head, prominent jaw and powerful cheeks. The ears can be cropped or not. A muscular body characterizes all Pit Bull breeds. The short shiny coat can be of any color.

There are such Pit Bull strains as the Red Nose and Blue Pit Bull Terrier. They have a peculiar coat and nose color. However, exterior characteristics have never been a matter of primary importance in Pit Bulls.

Pit Bulls Puppies - Pit Bulls appeared around the 19th century as a result of the crossing of Bulldogs and Terriers. This breed got all the advantages of excellent fighters. They are strong, courageous, determined and devoted to the task they have to accomplish and extremely affectionate with their owners. However, the Pit Bull as a separate breed does not exist. When we say Pit Bulls, we mean the American Pit Bull Terrier, the American Staffordshire or the Staffordshire Bull Terrier.

Even though all three breeds are relatively the same in appearance, their descriptions and standard requirements differ. The American Pit Bull Terrier is a sturdy muscular dog of a medium size. They have a wide deep muzzle with rather small ears, either natural or cropped, and flat skull. The tail is set rather low. The American Pit Bull Terrier is bred in many colors and patterns. The standard does not set a definite coat color the American Pit Bull Terrier should come in. The most important characteristic of the breed is its agility, zest and courage. These dogs are wonderful companions.

Pit Bulls Rescues - Pit Bulls tend to be a rather debatable breed as far as their history, temperament, appearance and upkeep are concerned. Many people who cannot be considered experts in Pit Bulls mistakenly believe them to be one of the most dangerous dog breeds. Mass media depicts them as representatives of the evil in the canine world. However, there is nothing that contributes more to this already formed misunderstanding than the one-sided approach.

The Pit Bull's notoriety of a fighting dog makes it undesirable as a family pet with children. Nevertheless, Pit Bulls do make wonderful companions and friends. These dogs are energetic and amiable. They are happy to please their owner and normally do well with children.

Pitbulls Breeders - Some consider Pit Bulls as very vicious dogs towards people, but the fact is that this breed has one of the gentlest natures of all. Many countries ban this breed while the mass media portrays it as a killer-dog. Actually, Pit Bulls are trained to guard the house and the owner and may be aggressive only when doing their task. These dogs have an inborn taboo against biting people and selective breeding discourages aggressiveness in the Pit bull.

Pit Bulls are unable to kill puppies and kittens, if responsible citizens keep and train them. Pit Bulls that are kept as pets should be trained to tolerate other pets, even cats. Occasionally dogs with hyper aggressiveness are born, but responsible breeders will not breed them on purpose and will never include aggressive Pit Bulls in the breeding program. There are some owners, who encourage aggressive behavior in their dogs and who use them in dog fighting, but the USA bans this cruel sport now.

Pitbulls Pictures - Pitbulls are known for their intelligence and loyalty and the breed has deserved a great popularity all over the world. These dogs, if bred and trained correctly, make excellent companions, pet friends and natural guards. They are good and playful with children, making protective companions for them.

It is thought that the Pitbull, later known as APBT, developed from a cross between the original English bulldog and a smaller terrier type dog. These dogs were participants of the bloody games of bull baiting until England outlawed this sport in 1835.

Pitbulls Rescues - Pitbulls are known for their intelligence and loyalty. They are also loving companions and pets that are good with children and make protective friends to all the family. Some American Pitbull Terriers are dual-registered as American Pit Bull Terriers with the UKC and as American Staffordshire Terriers with the AKC; however, this draws criticism from many who point out that the bloodlines have been separate for too long to be considered the same breed.

Pitbull is a medium-sized dog that can be of various color patterns and is a very popular breed nowadays. This breed has been developed over hundreds years. Nowadays this is a dog is a good worker and is well suited to most any task requiring strength, agility, and intelligence. These dogs are very strong. They should be built well, very muscular with well-pronounced chest and legs.

Pitbulls Rescues Pictures - Pitbulls are generally treated in society as very serious dogs that need to be always kept on leash in public places. There are many cases connected with attacks on humans and other pets, yet attacks related to this breed seem to be not more numerous than attacks related to other breeds that serve as guardians and posses a certain level of aggressiveness.

There is a lot of argument connected with the breed regarding the way it should be trained and bred. It is accepted that owners are most often to blame for the dogs' misbehaviors and aggressive attitude to humans and other pets. Therefore, Pitbull lovers insist on careful screening not only in the breeding stock but also the people who make their decision to buy this breed of dog.

Pitbulls Facts - Pitbulls have a long history. Pitbull terriers are related to the Bulldog, a dog popular in Great Britain and used for bull baiting. After the British Parliament banned this bloody sport, the English Bulldog found itself replaced by cute lap dogs and those that did not display aggressive behaviors. However, breeders continued to use the breed in dog fighting and bred them for gameness and agility.

Breeders put stress on the fighting qualities of the dogs and appreciated courage and strength. They dreamed of producing an agile tenacious breed that would win all the fights and become an unsurpassed dog fighter. They crossed the Bulldog and some types of terriers to get a Pitbull Terrier. This breed was bred for aggression and was willing to fight to the death.

Pitbulls Pictures Puppies - Pit bulls are the dogs that have been bred according to a purpose. Pit bulls are tough and intelligent animals. They were bred for a willingness to test their strength and mettle against larger and stronger animals, as well as against each other. An adult dog of this breed tends to be aggressive and quarrelsome towards other dogs.

These dogs stand out as the breed of a great power, passion, and willingness. Pit bulls have a brick-like head with the powerful jaws. Their well-defined neck is thickly muscled. The chest is deep, thick, and well sprung.

Pitbulls Puppies Pictures - Known actually as a very intelligent breed, Pitbulls nevertheless do not deserve the reputation of aggressive dogs that tend to attack people and other dogs. As a matter of fact, the breed has nothing to do with overly aggressive dogs. If trained and socialized properly they make excellent, loving companions that are always ready to protect their owner and family members.

A well-mannered and properly socialized Pitbull will exhibit confidence in most every situation. When a task brings itself to light, the Pitbull is typically inquisitive and exhibits a can do and don't give up attitude.
